Derby: Tributes paid to father who died in 'hit-and-run'

A man who was killed when he was struck by at least one vehicle has been named by police.

Grant Sturgess died when he was hit while walking near the Pentagon Island in Derby at about 20:00 GMT on Sunday.

Derbyshire Police has arrested a 17-year-old male "in connection with the investigation" and released him on bail.

The 31-year-old's mother Tracey said he was "a loving, and a proud daddy" who lived life to the full.

She said: "He would do anything for anyone and as a family we will miss him so much. Our lives are broken."

Mr Sturgess died at the scene, near the entrance to Derbyshire County Cricket Club.

Officers said he was struck by at least one vehicle and Mrs Sturgess has urged anyone with information about what happened to contact police.

Police previously said a car that hit Mr Sturgess did not stop at the scene.

Mrs Sturgess added: "Whoever has hit him while driving, please have a conscience and come forward."
