Derby County fans have taken part in a minute of applause in tribute to a dad who died when he was hit by a car while walking home from a nightclub.

Supporters clapped for 27-year-old Tommy Hunter in the 27th minute of Derby's match at Pride Park earlier.

The Rams fan was found near Ashby in Leicestershire on Monday morning.

Leicestershire Police believe he was walking from Ashby to his home in Newhall, Derbyshire, in the early hours when he was hit by a car.

A 26-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, has been released under investigation.

Mr Hunter's father, Mark, said Derby County had donated six tickets to Tommy's partner Chloe, so his family could attend the match.

The 55-year-old said he had been touched by the kindness of people who had fondly remembered his son, who played Sunday league football for Springfield Sports Bar in Swadlincote.

Mr Hunter's friends and family earlier held a vigil for him, laying flowers at the roadside where he was found.
