A former police station in Derby could be demolished and replaced with an apartment complex.

Developers DCG investment has drawn up plans to build the homes where the disused police station now stands in Cotton Lane in Osmaston.

Derbyshire Constabulary decided to close the station in 2017 after concluding the building was no longer fit for purpose.

A planning application for 101 properties has been submitted.

Planning documents, lodged with Derby City Council, said the scheme would help regenerate the surrounding area, the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) said.

The proposed development, made up of a mix of one-bedroom and two-bedroom flats, would include 42 parking spaces.

The council hopes to make a decision on the application in March.

The Cotton Road police station was replaced with a new £9.5m building in Ascot Drive in 2022.
