Police investigating the death of a man who was hit by a vehicle in Derby have appealed to trace the drivers of cars travelling in the area at the time.

Grant Sturgess, 31, was walking near the Pentagon Island at about 20:00 GMT on 12 November when he was struck.

Fation Koldashi has been charged with causing death by careless driving and failing to stop at the scene.

Derbyshire Police has released two images of vehicles which they hope will help with the investigation.

Mr Sturgess, who died at the scene near the entrance to Derbyshire County Cricket Club, was described as "a loving, and a proud daddy" by his mother Tracey.

A spokesperson for the force said: "We know that a number of vehicles passed by Mr Sturgess in the road in the minutes before the collision.

"We appreciate the images are not the best quality but it is hoped that those motorists who were in the area at the time will come forward."

Mr Koldashi, 30, of Dorset Street, Derby, was also charged with causing death while driving unlicensed.

He will appear at Derby Crown Court in April.
