An international healthcare and science firm has opened its new UK head office and training centre in Derby.

Swedish company Getinge's new business premise and Global Centre of Excellence for Chemistry has opened at St. Modwen Park, near Pride Park.

The company's investment has created up to 30 new jobs in the city.

Doctors, nurses, chemists and science experts will visit the new building to learn and discover new technologies within the healthcare industry.

The centre will help microbiologists and full-time chemists create new products and solutions for the healthcare industry, reports the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS), external.

It will also train the next generation of scientific professionals.

Councillor Baggy Shanker, leader of Derby City Council, welcomed the company's arrival to the city.

He said: "Their decision to invest in our city is a testament to Derby's growing appeal, creating new jobs, boosting our economy, and solidifying our position as a prime investment destination."
