Police escorted many Exeter City fans into Plymouth's football stadium as part of an operation to prevent trouble during the Devon derby.

About 220 police officers were on duty after trouble broke out at a match on 9 November - the first time the clubs had played each other for eight years.

Police had warned that anyone who was intent on disruption would be dealt with firmly.

Plymouth Argyle won the League One match 2-0 at Home Park.

About 14,300 people attended the match.

Twenty-two people have been arrested so far in connection with the violence at Home Park during the November game.

There had been some disturbances during the Johnstone's Paint Trophy clash and more trouble broke out at the end of the game, both inside and outside Home Park, and fireworks were also thrown on the pitch.

The force was criticised for not anticipating the trouble.
