Neil Dyer, 71, denies charges of sex assault against 14 children and a man

The jury in the case of a former primary school head teacher accused of sexually assaulting pupils has retired to consider its verdict.

Neil Dyer, 71, from Stokes Lane, Plymouth, denies 26 charges of sexual assault involving 13 boys, one girl and a man between 1976 and 1992.

Mr Dyer denies the assaults, alleged to have taken place while he worked at Widey Court Primary School in the city.

He told Plymouth Crown Court he was "devastated" by the allegations.

Mr Dyer was known at the time of the alleged incidents as Geoffrey Burley.
