Torbay Council introduces reduced library opening hours

  • Published

Reduced opening hours for a number of libraries in Devon have been introduced.

Torbay Council said it had to reduce the library service at Torquay, Brixham, Churston and Paignton because of budget cuts.

Some of the libraries affected will close at 13:00 on as many as three days a week.

The council said the changes were made after a consultation with library customers.

The authority added it had to meet a 10% reduction in its 2012/13 funding and the <link> <caption>new opening hours </caption> <url href="http://www.torbay.gov.uk/index/yourservices/libraries/libraryopeninghours.htm" platform="highweb"/> </link> had been arranged to cause as little inconvenience as possible.
