Tourist information centres could close in part of Devon as a result of proposed council cuts.

English Riviera Tourism Company (ERTC), owned by Torbay Council, could lose £85,000 - 15% of its budget - as the council tries to save £10m.

The changes would result in ERTC closing all but one centre and looking towards sharing the service with private business.

The council is also planning cuts to children's services and roads.

ERTC chief executive Carolyn Custerson said: "We should consolidate everything into one visitor information centre... but more and more people are accessing information online particularly via smartphones."
