Storms have gouged out a 10m (30ft)-long hole on a seaside promenade.

Environment Agency workers are filling the gap at Teignmouth in Devon, external after the 2m (6ft) deep void appeared near a lighthouse.

The agency said its main concern was to ensure the area was made safe and prevent the situation getting worse.

District councillor David Cox said rough seas had sucked out old flood defences from the sea wall.
