South Western Railways said disruption was expected until the end of the day

Train lines have been blocked between Exeter and Salisbury following the heavy rain and wind which caused disruption across the south of England.

Services running through these stations might be cancelled or delayed, South Western Railway said.

Posting on Twitter, it added that passengers between Exeter and Yeovil were "strongly advised" not to travel "as you may not complete your journey".

It expected disruption to last until the end of the day.

South Western Railway said teams were on site inspecting a number of affected areas.

It said Friday should see a full service although early trains might run at reduced speed.
