Dartmoor National Park to receive one-off grant
- Published
Dartmoor National Park is set to receive a one-off grant of £440,000.
The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) announced the news on Monday.
Pamela Woods, chair of Dartmoor National Park Authority said it was "very welcome news" and would enable the park to "maintain core services".
But she said the grant "does not solve the underlying problem" of how to sustain services after years of cuts.
She said: "We need to remember that this is, in effect, a 'sticking plaster'. A one-off payment does not solve the underlying problem of how to sustain core services in the face of 12 years of real-terms cuts.
"We hope this announcement will prompt thinking about the resources required to deliver the government's ambition to make our National Parks better for people and nature, an ambition we share."
