A man has been taken to hospital after being pulled from the water following a suspected medical episode, police have said.

HM Coastguard said it was alerted to the incident at Firestone Bay in Plymouth at around 07:50 GMT.

South Western Ambulance Service said the air ambulance attended with a road ambulance and a rapid response vehicle.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the man had been suffering from a suspected medical episode.
