Dozens of firefighters have tackled a blaze at a disused factory in Exeter.

Emergency services were called to Water Lane at about 22:30 GMT following reports of a large fire at a derelict industrial building, firefighters said.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said eight crews and several specialist appliances tackled the blaze.

The building was "well alight" when firefighters arrived at the scene, it said.

Firefighters said the blaze was put out at about 01:05 and an investigation into the cause was under way.

The factory was previously used for the disposal of dead livestock.
