A man has suffered serious injuries after crashing his car into a house causing part of the building to collapse.

The crash on the A35 at Offwell near Honiton happened at about 00:20 GMT.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the driver was taken to hospital with potentially "life-changing" injuries.

The driver was trapped in his car after the building partially collapsed, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said.

'Very significant' damage

Firefighters said the house was evacuated but the residents were not injured.
