More than £20,000 has been raised to pay for the funerals of a mum and daughter who died in a Plymouth car crash.

Destiny Harrison, 24, and Linnea Harrison, 5, were hit by a car in St Budeaux on 24 March.

A GoFundMe campaign started by Ms Harrison's brother has reached £20,974 in the seven days since the incident.

Writing on the fundraising page, Orin Harrison said the family "appreciated" everyone's messages and donations.

The family said they now wanted to close the donation page because they were "not greedy" and had "been blessed" with the amount received.

'1,500 donations'

More than 1,500 individual donations have been made to help cover the cost of the funeral services, including "flowers and headstones".

The pair were taken to hospital after the crash but died as a result of their injuries.

A 74-year-old Plymouth woman was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and of driving while unfit through drink or drugs.

She was later released under investigation, Devon & Cornwall Police said.

Police have appealed for anyone with information or footage from dashcams or doorbells to get in touch.
