Residents want drivers to avoid using the lane if their vehicle is over the size limit

Residents living on a narrow street in Paignton have urged large vehicle drivers to avoid using the lane.

People living near Winner Hill Road said large vehicles often got trapped on the road.

Campaigners, who want bollards to be put in place, said trapped vehicles had led to disruption and, in some cases, damage to properties.

Torbay Council said signs clearly stated vehicles more than 5ft 6ins (1.6m) were not suitable for the road.

Residents said vehicles have been stuck for "hours"

Resident Lynn Alford-Burrow said large vehicles had caused "absolute havoc" in the area.

She said large vans had been known to be stuck in the lane for "hours".

Another resident, Clare Neil, said "chunks" have been taken out of her property due to large vehicles travelling down the lane.

"They've taken chunks out of my wall, chunks out of my cottage and other neighbouring properties."

Torbay Council said it was the responsibility of drivers to ensure their vehicle were suitable for the road.
