Bell-ringing bikers showcased their skills on a visit to a cathedral in Devon.

The National Bell-Ringing Motorcyclists Club made a pit stop at Exeter Cathedral during a tour of sites across the country.

The club said its members were looking forward to a "cream tea on the seafront" during their visit.

But the bikes and the bells took centre stage, said member Martin Hough.

Mr Hough added: "Motorcyclists like to ride so our tours are never concentrated in one area...the riding is just as important as the ringing.

"The ringing is a passion for all bell-ringers whether they ride bikes or not."

Paul Pascoe, secretary to Exeter Cathedral's own Society of Ringers, said they were excited to hear the ringing and see the motorbikes. "Special permission has been granted by the cathedral for the motorbikes to be parked across the West Front apron whilst they ring, so we hope this will be an additional attraction for our visitors," he said.
