Police want to speak to this man in connection with the attack in Pocket Park

Police investigating an attack on an elderly Dorset couple as they protected their pet dog have released an image of a man they want to speak to.

Another dog owner struck a 65-year-old man in the chest before pushing his wife to the ground in Pocket Park, Broadstone, last Thursday morning.

The couple's one-year-old Cairn terrier was attacked by a Staffordshire bull terrier, according to police.

Officers hope the man in the picture will help them with the inquiry.

Both victims suffered bruising and attended hospital, a spokesman said.

Pc Barry Gosling, from Dorset Police, said: "I am appealing for anyone who recognises this man to contact me as soon as possible.

"I am also appealing for anyone who witnessed this attack, and anyone with any information about the man responsible, to get in touch urgently."
