Poole Council to spend nearly £1.5m on daycare services

A Dorset council is to spend almost £1.5m in its daycare services for vulnerable people.
Borough of Poole is to upgrade facilities for adults with physical and learning disabilities at the Sea View Centre in Parkstone.
The Conservative-led council said services currently being run from the nearby Fourways Centre would also be transferred to the revamped centre.
The plan, recommended for approval, goes before full council on 1 March.
A spokesman said: "The proposal will provide a more efficient way of managing services and save the council £146,000 a year in running costs."
Peter Adams, cabinet portfolio holder for adult social care, said: "By consolidating daycare services on a single site, we will be able to offer much improved facilities to meet the complex and differing needs of people who still want to regularly visit a local day centre."
Subject to approval by councillors, construction work is expected to get under way in June and be completed by January 2012.
