Weymouth Christmas pudding chase takes place

Organisers describe the event as "an eccentric way to spend a Sunday"

More than 150 people dressed up as Father Christmas, elves and fairies for Dorset's annual "chase the pudding" charity event.

About 200 people watched Weymouth firefighter Mark Steen catch last year's winner of the event, who was dressed as a Christmas pudding.

The 5km (3 mile) run from Weymouth Pavilion raised more than £3,000 for the British Heart Foundation.

Mr Steen will be asked to take part as the pudding next year.

Neil Jarrett, from the British Heart Foundation, said: "It was a fantastic race and very well supported.

"We were lucky with the weather and everyone came with the Christmas spirit and really enjoyed themselves."

Organisers described the event, which is in its fifth year and is run by BustinSkin Triathlon and Events, as "an eccentric way to spend a Sunday, but all in a good cause".

All those who took part received an edible Christmas pudding donated by the resort's View Cafe.
