Tributes have been paid to a woman who died in a head-on collision near Dorchester.

The family of Louiza Covey, 25, said she was an "exceptional young woman".

Ms Covey, known as Lulu, died when the Volkswagen Golf she was travelling was in collision with a van at 22:15 BST on Friday.

The driver of the van, a 45-year-old man from Poole, also died in the collision. Four other people were seriously injured.

'Never forgotten'

In a statement, Ms Covey's family said: "Lulu was an exceptional young woman whose constant happiness was contagious to everyone she knew and loved.

"She was as beautiful inside as she was out and could change your day with a comment and smile.

"Her honesty and pursuit of joy in everything she did should be an example to us all.

"For all her family and friends, she leaves behind a void that will always be filled with treasured memories of her. She will never be forgotten."

The accident happened three miles north of Grimstone on Break Heart Hill.

A woman, 37, who was a passenger in the Volkswagen Transporter van is in a life-threatening condition.

The driver of the Golf, a 28-year-old man from Newton Abbot, and two other passengers - a 28-year-old man from Exeter and a 26-year-old woman from the Bridport area - have sustained major injuries.

The four are receiving treatment at hospitals in Yeovil, Dorchester and Bristol.

Ms Covey grew up in Salway Ash and worked as a horse groomer.
