Auctioneer Matthew Denney described the collection as "extensive"

An auctioneers has said it will not release full details of a Star Wars toys and memorabilia sale, after several of the lots failed to sell.

Duke's in Dorchester had expected the thousands of items to fetch as much as £50,000.

They included the iconic Millennium Falcon, puppets of Jedi master Yoda, and a rare 1977 Jawa figure.

But the force was not with the auction house. "It wasn't the best day," said manager John Holmes.

Duke's claimed it would not be releasing any figures because the client had said they did not want the full result of the auction to be released.

Speaking ahead of the auction, the anonymous seller said he had spent 15 years gathering the items which now "filled several rooms".

"The collection has grown to a huge size and I think it's time to move on to other collecting fields," he said.

Duke's said it was "most unusual for such an extensive collection to come to auction".

The items spanned 500 lots.

Toys that sold included a Boba Fett figure for £1,035 and a Cantina action play set for £535.

The plastic-coated Jawa, rare because later figures were dressed in cloth coats, fetched £610.
