Proposals to expand a Dorset museum have been given the go-ahead.
The Weymouth Museum Trust (WMT) plans to expand over four floors, add gallery space and a cafe within the redeveloped Brewers Quay complex.
Weymouth and Portland Borough Council which owns the museum collection agreed to support the project and provide some of its funding.
The trust's David Riches said the expansion would bring in revenue and improve the resort's "cultural appeal".
The trust plans to apply for a Heritage Lottery Fund grant to help meet the estimated £300,000 cost of the renovation.
The council's Management Committee, external agreed to support the plans and keep available funding of £94,000 previously earmarked for the museum.
