Parents who are struggling with the cost of living are being offered free winter coats for their children.

Dorset Council has been collecting coats, hats and gloves in an effort to make sure children do not go without warm winter clothing.

Residents have already donated numerous clean and undamaged items for ages 0 to 16.

Families who need items are able to collect them from centres in Blandford and Shaftesbury.

Children and education councillor Byron Quayle said: "In the face of rising living costs, we urge our Dorset residents to come together and make a difference.

"By donating, you can provide vital warmth and support to local families this winter."

Collections and donations can be made at Blandford's and Shaftesbury's children's centres, Monday to Friday, between 09:30 and 16:00 BST.
