The brewery in Peaceful Lane will replace a dilapidated chicken coop
A microbrewery has been given consent to use a farm site, despite concerns about smell, noise and traffic.
Dorset Council approved plans by Woodshedding Ltd to set up a brewery on the Lower Woodbridge Farm site in Peaceful Lane, Holwell, near Sherborne.
Plans for a tap room and on-site sales were dropped by the brewer, which already has a tap room at its other brewing site in Tarrant Launceston.
The building will replace a dilapidated chicken coop and will be 1.5m taller.
Addressing concerns, planning officers said only a small number of van movements were expected every week which were unlikely to be a nuisance, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
Dorset Council chairman Val Pothecary said: "It's a smashing idea. I would like to see more diversification in the countryside, it's the lifeblood."
Councillor Robin Legg said he understood the concerns that Peaceful Lane, which he said lived up to its name, might become "less than tranquil".
