New rules for dogs on some Dorset beaches come into force
- Published
New rules for dog walkers have come into force for the new year.
Dogs in the Dorset Council area will need to be kept on leads on some beaches and open spaces.
The council said the Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) will encourage owners to have "adequate control" over their pets, reducing the likelihood of fouling or causing issues with other animals.
It will remain in place for three years.
The order follows a consultation that gathered views from residents, visitors, businesses and other organisations.
