Emergency services were called to Brunswick Terrace in Weymouth

A man has been arrested on suspicion of supplying drugs following the death of a man near Weymouth seafront.

Police and ambulance crews were called to Brunswick Terrace shortly before 12:30 GMT on Monday following a report of a man needing medical attention.

Dorset Police said he died at the scene. His death is being treated as non-suspicious.

A 50-year-old man was later held on suspicion of the supply of Class A drugs.

Det Insp George Graham said: "I am appealing to anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in or around the area of the Pier Bandstand on Weymouth Esplanade, or who has any information that might assist our enquiries, to please contact us.

"We are aware that a member of the public assisted by administering CPR to the man at the scene prior to the arrival of the emergency services and we would very much like to speak them in relation to the incident."
