Hole located in Tollesbury, Maldon. The hole has now been filled but the council missed half a dozen holes up the road which also need to be corrected. Photo sent in by Alex Gager.
Councils in Essex have spent thousands of pounds compensating drivers for damage caused by potholes. A line of potholes can be seen along Moulsham Street in Chelmsford.
Freezing conditions caused the proliferation of potholes. Many of the county's roads are in a similar condition to those in Potash Road, Billericay.
