Coryton refinery processing in Essex to end in days

  • Published

Processing of crude oil at a refinery on the Thames estuary in Essex is likely to cease within days.

Administrators PwC, now running Coryton oil refinery, said operations at the plant are being wound down.

The refinery went into administration in January after its parent company, Swiss-based Petroplus, collapsed.

Up to 850 jobs are likely to be lost and Thurrock Council chief executive Graham Farrant said many of the workers were being helped to find new jobs.
