Five people arrested on suspicion of murder over the stabbing of a teenager in Essex have had their bail extended.

Three 18-year-old men and two 17-year-old boys were quizzed over the death of Jay Whiston, 17, in Marlowe Way, Colchester, on 8 September.

A provisional post-mortem examination found the Clacton teenager died from a stab wound.

A number of knives were found in the area but none was the murder weapon, police said.

Detectives said they were still trying to pinpoint the sequence of events that led up to the stabbing.

The five arrested over the death have been bailed until 22 November.
