Jay Whiston died of a single stab wound, a provisional post mortem found

Police investigating the death of a teenager in Essex believe none of the knives found so far is the murder weapon.

Jay Whiston was stabbed at a house party organised via Facebook in Marlowe Way, Colchester, shortly after 10pm on 8 September.

The 17-year-old from Clacton died a short time later in hospital.

Nine people arrested in connection with the death have had their police bail extended until March.

A spokesman for police said a number of knives had been found in the area but none was the murder weapon.

Detectives said they were still trying to pinpoint the sequence of events that led up to the stabbing.
