Firefighters have rescued a man who became trapped between two beach huts.

Inflatable air bags were used to move one of the beach huts so the man could be released from Burnt House Promenade in Walton-on-the-Naze.

It is understood he was replacing a rotten plank at the bottom of the hut when he got stuck.

Essex Fire and Rescue said the man, who got a leg wedged beneath the hut, had been there "for some time". He was freed shortly before 11:00 BST.

Mark Oxley, station manager, said: "The man had limited movement in one of his legs.

"There was no way that we could reach him in the position he was in so we used air bags to lift the hut up and move it 1ft (30cm)."

He was given the all clear by paramedics.
