Wickford murder inquiry starts as man shot and woman stabbed

A man was shot and a woman stabbed in Cranfield Park Avenue, Wickford

A murder inquiry has begun after a man was shot and a woman suffered multiple stab wounds in Essex.

The 45-year-old man died in hospital after the attack in Cranfield Park Avenue in Wickford.

Police were called by paramedics at 23:45 BST on Sunday following reports two people had been injured.

The woman, who is also in hospital, is described as being in a serious but stable condition. No arrests have yet been made.

Police said the victims were a brother and sister and the attack was targeted.
