A cordon covering part of a seaside town and beach has been lifted after suspect ordnance was found to be safe.
Essex Police said they were called to reports of "a suspected piece of unexploded ordnance" in Clacton shortly after 10:30 BST.
A 100-metre (330ft) cordon put in place has now been lifted.
Police said the item "has been deemed non-suspicious following work by an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit".
An Essex Police spokesman confirmed the device was not ordnance.
