Man dies after dinghy capsizes in sea at Southend

A man has died after the dinghy he was in capsized in the sea off the Essex coast.
The East of England Ambulance Service was called to reports of two people in trouble off Thorpe Bay Esplanade in Southend-on-Sea at about 17:00 BST on Thursday.
One man died at the scene, it said.
The other man who had been rescued from the water was taken to Southend University Hospital for further assessment and treatment.
HM Coastguard said it was alerted to the incident at about 16:40 and sent lifeboats and hovercraft from Southend RNLI, coastguard rescue teams from Southend and Canvey Island, and the coastguard helicopter from Lydd.
A spokesman for RNLI Southend said it launched three rescue craft "to search for two missing persons from a capsized dinghy off Thorpe Bay Seafront".
An air ambulance and Essex Police were also in attendance.
