The Met Office said sleet and rain could freeze over

A yellow weather warning has been issued for the East of England after ice was forecast.

The Met Office said sleet or rain could freeze over and cause a safety risk on Sunday morning.

The warning is in place, external across parts of Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire.

It followed a light flurry of snow in Norfolk and Suffolk earlier in the week.

The warning is in place from midnight until 08:00 GMT.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "Rain or sleet is expected to spread from west to east across the area overnight, falling on to frozen surfaces leading to some icy patches, perhaps even where treatment has been applied."

They urged people to take care when walking and to factor in more time when planning any journeys.
