Police shut St John's car park in Colchester after the discovery of a body

The death of a man whose body was found in a car park was being treated as non-suspicious, police have said.

Officers were called to St Johns car park, in Colchester, shortly after 08:30 GMT on Wednesday.

They found a man, in his thirties, had died and closed the car park while an investigation was carried out.

The force said the death was "unexpected" but in a later update, added it would be treated as non-suspicious.

The man's family have been informed and were being supported by specialist officers, a police spokesman said.

He added that a file was being prepared for the coroner.
