Multiple vehicles have been written off after a person trying to jump-start their car caused a fire.

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service sent two crews to Talisman Walk in Tiptree on Tuesday afternoon.

The fire spread around the vehicle being jump-started and engulfed two other cars but nobody was injured, the service said.

Station manager Terry Maher warned: "If you're not sure how to do it, don't risk it, and seek professional advice."
