The Tigers Army Parachute Display Team will not be at this year's Clacton Airshow

A parachute team has said it will not be able to perform at this year's Clacton Airshow.

It is the second recent disappointment for the Essex event, which will be held in August.

The Tigers Army Parachute Display Team said "there is no easy way to say it" when it announced the news.

A spokesperson said the team would not be putting on the display "due to a reform of the Army parachute display teams for 2024-25".

"We simply do not know what the future holds, however we remain positive," said the spokesperson.

The news comes after event organiser Tendring District Council said the Red Arrows could not perform this year due to commitments in Canada.

Ivan Henderson, the Labour cabinet member for economic growth, regeneration and tourism at the council, said its teams were "working closely with our flight director to draw up a brilliant flight line up".

"The Tigers are always a favourite of the crowds with their exhilarating display, we love it when they are able to jump from the Essex skies. It is not to be this year," said Mr Henderson.

"But Clacton Airshow 2024 is going to be a wonderful event with brilliant displays in the air and on the ground, and I can't wait to reveal our line up in the coming months."

The show - which BBC Essex provides radio commentary from each year - will take place on 22-23 August.
