A fire that led to 27 residents and a number of staff being evacuated from a care home has been put out.

Crews from across Essex tackled the flames coming from the roof space of an unused part of the home on Ramsey Road, Harwich, on Wednesday.

Essex fire service called it a "significant incident", with smoke damage to other parts of the home.

The residents are being looked after at a temporary rest centre. No-one has been hurt.
