A46 landslip damage work in Gloucestershire continues

Work to strengthen a section of the A46 in Gloucestershire after it was damaged by a landslip in the floods of 2007 is due to be completed in May.

The £1.24m project to stabilise the road at Cooper's Hill started in November and involves resurfacing and work to stop it from slipping further.

It also includes the construction of a 100m (110 yards) wall and new drainage.

The council said on average 1,700 vehicles use the A46 between 0700- 0900 GMT and 1,800 between 1600-1800 GMT.

Councillor Stan Waddington, from Gloucestershire County Council, said: "This scheme is extremely important as the A46 is one of the busiest roads in the county with around 7,000 vehicles using it every day.

"I hope the works remain on schedule for the rest of the project."
