Plans revealed for 'difficult' Stroud canal extension

Plans for a "particularly difficult" canal extension through Stroud have been revealed to the public.

The quarter-of-a-mile project will extend the Cotswolds canal, steering it through the Capel's Mill site.

It will utilise an unused arch under the railway viaduct, partly cutting into the hill side at the site.

It follows criticism over British Waterways' plans in 2007 which proposed to carry the canal through the site in a concrete trough.
