Kate Prout's husband was jailed for her murder but her body was never found

Officers who investigated the murder of Gloucestershire woman Kate Prout, in 2007, say they have received "significant" new information.

Kate Prout, 55, from Redhill Farm in Redmarley, on the Gloucestershire-Herefordshire border, disappeared on 5 November four years ago.

Her husband Adrian was jailed for life in February 2010 with a recommendation he serve a minimum of 18 years.

He was convicted despite her body never being found.

In a statement, a Gloucestershire Police spokesman said: "Officers are reviewing this information and will be following up the matter with some urgency.

"It would not be appropriate to comment any further at this stage."

Mrs Prout disappeared the day after she asked her husband for a divorce settlement.

The police search for her body was abandoned unless new evidence came to light.
