Gloucester: Two children in hospital after being hit by van

Officers said road closures were in place following a serious collision between a van and two pedestrians

Two children have been taken to hospital after they were hit by a van on a busy city road.

It happened on St Oswalds Road in Gloucester at 15:55 GMT on Monday.

One child was taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital with serious injuries and the second to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for treatment.

A man in his 50s has since been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

St Oswalds Road was likely to remain closed for several hours for investigations, police advised.

Officers from the Roads Policing Unit have called for anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage to come forward.
