Police have been granted more time to question a man arrested on suspicion of murder.

A man in his 30s was found with stab wounds at a property in Cinderford in the Forest of Dean on Friday evening. He later died of his injuries.

Gloucestershire Police arrested a 45-year-old in relation to the incident and he remains in custody.

Officers have now been granted a warrant of further detention by Cheltenham Magistrates' Court.

The suspect will be kept in custody for another 36 hours.

A spokesperson for the force said they were not seeking anyone else in connection with the murder.

Both the victim and suspect are local residents and it is understood they were known to each other.

The victim's next of kin has been informed.

Officers from the Major Crime Investigation team are continuing to investigate the incident and ask anyone with information to contact the police.
