Flooding shuts A417 near Maisemore in both directions

A busy A-road has been shut for more than two days in both directions due to flooding.
The A417 in Gloucestershire first shut on Saturday between the A40 at the Over roundabout in Gloucester and the White Hart inn pub in Maisemore.
Travel monitoring site, Inrix, said the road - known as a flooding hotspot - is still closed as of 08:00 GMT on Monday.
The county council has earmarked thousands of pounds to develop a flood alleviation scheme for the road.
Glos Roads, an X account run by Gloucestershire County Council, said on Saturday they were forced to close the A417 because of flooding and asked motorists to not drive through the water.
Flood warnings
At a recent meeting, council leader Mark Hawthorne said that £100,000 would be needed to "finally crack" the A417 flooding issue for locals.
The council put aside £114,000 last week to develop a business case for a flood prevention scheme which may include raising the road and installing culverts, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
The Environment Agency has also issued a flood warning covering Sandhurst and Maisemore and several other places along the River Severn.
The agency said flooding is expected along the river at Deerhurst, Apperley, Chaceley and Haw bridge, Upton upon Severn, as well as at Severn Ham.
There are also 16 flood warnings in place across Somerset including along the River Tone, River Aller and at Curry Moor and Hay Moor.
