Building work is due to start on new council homes in Portsmouth next month.

The building, containing 18 homes, will be built in Watts Road, Buckland, and will be ready for tenants in December.

They will be the first local authority homes to be built in the city in 10 years, according to Portsmouth City Council.

Children from Charles Dickens School will choose the building's name from four options - Manette House, Westerman House, Rope Walk House and Chubb House.

The development consists of two five-bedroom houses, four four-bedroom houses and six flats - three three-bedroom flats, three two-bedroom flats, two of which are to be designated mobility units.
