Three more people have been arrested in connection with a shooting in Southampton.

A total of seven people have now been arrested over the attack in which a man was shot in the leg in Bitterne on Sunday.

Hampshire police said an 18-year-old Southampton man was held on Wednesday on suspicion of attempted murder.

A man, aged 19, and a woman, 18, from the city were also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

All three remain in custody.

Officers were called to the Tesco store at 19:17 GMT on Sunday where a 27-year-old man was receiving treatment after apparently having been shot near a house in Vanguard Road.

Police investigating the shooting have now arrested four people on suspicion of attempted murder, including a 38-year-old earlier on Wednesday.

A 15-year-old boy was also arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of firearms offences.

Hampshire Constabulary said a team of 40 officers had been working on the investigation.

Officers are still searching for a handgun and have renewed appeals for witnesses and information.
