A video of Spider-Man making a surprise birthday visit to a terminally-ill boy has gone viral on the internet.

Michael Wilson, from Basingstoke, dressed up as the superhero for his son Jayden's fifth birthday and jumped down from the roof of the family home to greet him.

Mr Wilson said he only posted the video, external on YouTube on 16 November to get rid of space on his computer desktop.

"It's gone bonkers, it literally went viral overnight," he said.

'It went amazingly'

Mr Wilson, whose profession as free runner allowed him to emulate Spider-Man's acrobatic exploits, said: "I wanted to do something different for Jayden.

"His face was exactly what I expected - shock and happiness."

The father pretended to nip to the shops to get more party supplies when he slipped into superhero mode.

"All the adults were in on it," he said.

"I snuck upstairs, dressed up in the costume and went out the window. It went amazingly."

Mr Wilson said he could not believe the amount of hits the video, filmed in August, has had.

"I only put it up to get rid of space on my desktop. I wanted to keep it as a memory though so posted it up on my YouTube channel.

"It literally went viral overnight, it's crazy."

Jayden has an inoperable grade 4 brain stem tumour, the fastest-growing and most malignant of its type, which carries an average life expectancy of one year.

Mr Wilson said: "I'm so proud I managed to do this for him, it shares a good message out there."
